All schools are trying to ensure that staff are watching over the campus, but does our school need more staff?
Now, I’m not saying our school doesn’t have enough staff, but in many situations, more staff would be incredibly helpful. If the school can’t hire more staff to roam around, they could make better use of the staff we already have by having them move around the campus. Keeping staff in the same spot makes it easier for students to skip or misbehave since they know where there are no staff members. Additionally, if staff are more mobile, they could spot vandalism or other issues and report them, since most students don’t report these things because they don’t want to get involved.
Having staff move in and out of the hallways would also allow them to check on classrooms. This would help because, if there’s a substitute, students can’t just act out and disrupt the class. Also, if a student gets kicked out of a class, staff can supervise them and prevent further issues.
With more staff, the school could offer more specialized support for students, including those who are injured and need assistance getting around campus. More staff could also help with planning and organizing events, such as school dances, sports, after-school activities, and programs. Additionally, having more staff could help enforce the school’s rules, preventing students from vandalizing or engaging in other harmful behaviors. During passing periods, the hallways get very crowded, and students are often pushed around, which can be dangerous—especially around stairs. With more staff, they could help direct students and ensure the hallways don’t become overly congested.
That’s why having more staff on campus would improve the school in several important ways.
