This is Teah Buchan, a new 7th grade science teacher at this school. Buchan has one dog named Dipper, a 3-year-old border collie. Dipper loves to play fetch and chase birds. Before becoming a teacher, Buchan worked at Dunkin’ Donuts and Dutch Bros, where she developed her love for coffee.
Buchan wanted to become a teacher because she enjoys learning as she teaches and hopes to make a positive difference in students’ lives, as well as in the community. Additionally, every day brings something new, and she gets to express her creativity in a unique way.
In five years, she hopes to still be teaching science here at GEMS. She also hopes to have another dog, a dachshund. Something students might not know about her is that her zodiac sign is Aries, which is represented by a ram. Her birth flower is a daisy, which also happens to be her favorite flower.
Here’s why she got Dipper. She said, “I was still living with my parents at the time, and I really wanted a dog. Our family’s dog had passed away about six months prior, and my mom kept saying no to a new pet. After constantly asking and doing chores around the house, my mom finally said yes. So, I looked at Craigslist and saw Dipper. I immediately knew I had to have him. My family drove to the farm to pick him up that same night. I am so thankful to have Dipper in my life!”
