Cheerleading has evolved tremendously—from simply cheering on the sidelines at games to competing at national and international levels. Today, All-Star cheer teams travel across states and countries to compete, with the most prestigious event of all being Worlds. This is the pinnacle of competitive cheer, where teams from around the globe gather to compete for the ultimate title.
In the All-Star cheer world, teams are divided into different levels and divisions based on age, skill, and team size. One of the most competitive divisions is Level 6 Senior Large Coed, and in 2025, that title went to none other than Top Gun All Stars TGLC. TGLC is known as one of the most elite teams in cheer history. Originally competing in Level 5, they won back-to-back championships starting in 2014 before moving up to Level 6. In total, they’ve claimed an impressive 10 World Championship titles—something every team dreams of achieving. These victories don’t come easy; teams often practice long into the night to perfect every single count of their routine.
To get a firsthand perspective, I spoke with cheerleader Lacey Sand, who shared her thoughts on the 2025 Worlds:
“I thought Worlds 2025 was almost cursed. Multiple teams in the large divisions dropped their stunts in the finals. Watching Top Gun Revolution lose in the Level 6 Senior Medium Coed division was devastating. They lost to Cali Black Ops, and even though I was sad for Revs, I was happy for BLOPS—they really deserved it. In the Level 6 Senior Large Coed division, though, my all-time favorite team, TGLC, won with their race car-themed routine. It was bittersweet knowing that many of these incredible routines won’t return next season.”
Lacey’s words highlight a key lesson in cheer and life: sometimes, you have to lose a few times before you win. It may be devastating in the moment, but perseverance pays off. Every team has its time to shine.
