For many students at GEMS, Ms. Pallas is more than just a staff member—she’s a constant, positive presence. Whether she’s overseeing the bathrooms and blacktops during lunch or stepping in to help with any problems that come up, Ms. Pallas is always there, working hard to ensure the school remains a safe place where everyone can focus on learning.
Before joining GEMS, Ms. Pallas worked as a RSP (Resource Specialist Program) aide at Creekside Oaks Elementary School, supporting students with whatever is needed. This experience helped shape her approach to helping others, which she brings to her role everyday.
Returning to GEMS after having attended school here as a kid was a unique experience for Ms. Pallas. “It was surprising to see that we lost most of the field,” she said, reflecting on how much the campus has changed since her days as a student.
When asked about her favorite part of the school day as a student, she quickly recalls her time in third grade, which is now the A Wing. “It was so fun and memorable because all the classes would come together for activities, and we got to see our friends while learning new things,” she shared.
Ms. Pallas has had countless memorable moments at GEMS, but what stands out the most are the ones that reflect respect and positive community impact. “The moments that stand out the most are when students show respect to teachers and staff, or when they make a real difference in the school,” she said.
One of the things Ms. Pallas believes makes GEMS stand out is how much more diverse and accepting the school has become over time. “We’re way more accepting of different people than we were when I was a kid,” she said, proud of the progress the school has made.
When it comes to advice for current students, Ms. Pallas is clear: “Get involved. Join clubs, play sports, and make the most of your time here.”
Ms. Pallas’ journey from student to staff member at GEMS reflects her deep commitment to the school and its students. Her dedication to creating a safe, welcoming environment continues to make a positive impact every day.
