Led Zeppelin recently released a new album featuring a few songs they performed live. I was surprised to see that there are only four songs, but the album still runs about 34 minutes long. Led Zeppelin is one of my favorite bands, so I was really excited to listen to this release.
Led Zeppelin first formed in 1968. Many people describe them as a hard rock band, which I agree with, but I also think their sound leans toward groovy rock and roll. Their debut album came out in 1969 and made it into the top 10 charts in several countries.
The overall theme of this live album is a mix of hard rock and groove. My favorite track is “Kashmir – Live from Knebworth, 1979.” The song keeps the same tempo throughout, but it’s still incredibly catchy. It was also the only song I was familiar with before listening to the album. I also really enjoyed “In My Time of Dying.”
One thing I’ve always liked about Led Zeppelin’s music is the power of the drums. John Bonham, the band’s legendary drummer, was truly the backbone of their sound, keeping a strong and steady beat that tied the whole band together.
Even without autotune or modern effects, Led Zeppelin still sounds amazing. The crowd roars after each song, proving just how incredible they were live. Unfortunately, the band no longer tours after John Bonham’s passing in 1980, which led to their official breakup.
I do wish they had added a few more songs to the album, but Led Zeppelin still delivered an incredible performance. After listening, my appreciation for their music grew even more.
Overall, I give this album 4 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys classic rock and roll.
