Campus supervisors encounter challenges such as managing student behavior, ensuring a safe environment, and resolving conflicts that arise on campus. At GEMS, the role of a campus supervisor is essential in keeping the school a positive and safe place for everyone.
One major challenge is understanding the dynamics of each class. Mr. Dora, a dedicated campus supervisor, explains, “For me, it’s just trying to figure out the vibe of each class. Every year is different, every class is different, and all the students every year are different.” This constant change requires supervisors to adapt quickly to meet students’ needs.
Conflict resolution is another main part of the job. Mr. Dora recalls a significant incident: “It was right in front of the two-story building. One boy shoved the other to the ground, and he slid right in front of me. I had to separate without touching him. I just had to put my arm around him.” This shows the challenges supervisors face in handling potentially dangerous situations while trying to keep everyone safe.
Mr. Dora also highlights the importance of communication: “If students understand the rules and listen, it would make our job a lot easier.” Clear expectations can help reduce conflicts and create a more respectful environment, making it easier for supervisors to focus on supporting students.
At GEMS, the 5 Star app helps teachers like Mrs. Pallas. She says, “5 Star shows me which students are here and if they should be outside.’ This helps keep everyone safe and organized.”
At GEMS, our campus supervisors Mr. Dora, Ms. Taylor and Mrs. Pallas play big roles in maintaining order and fostering a supportive atmosphere. Their ability to navigate student behavior and conflicts is key to creating a safe and positive educational experience.
