You might have noticed a new face in the library this year—Ms. Brown is our new librarian!
Before coming to Glen Edwards, Ms. Brown lived in Michigan, where she worked as a substitute teacher and helped out with special education. She has a passion for books, but she also loves hiking and watching her kids play sports.
When I asked Ms. Brown why she wanted to be our librarian, she expressed, “I love working with kids, I love to read, and my daughter and son go here.”
Ms. Pallas shared, “I’ve known her for a few years. She’s very sweet and cares a lot about the kids.” The other staff members also agreed that Ms. Brown is kind and always willing to help.
Some students are curious about changes in the library this year. For instance, if there will be more strict rules. Ms. Brown explained that one big difference is that students now need lunch passes to enter the library during lunch.
Students visit the library for many reasons. Some often come to check out or return books, but sometimes they just want a quiet place to relax or study.
Many students have had positive experiences with Ms. Brown. 8th grader Madison Panarra states, “My interactions with Ms. Brown have been good. She is very nice and she helps me find the books I want or need.”
According to Ms. Brown, the library is getting busier than usual. She mentioned that, “Before school, during lunch, and throughout the day, students are coming in with passes.”
Last year, the library was closed during lunch, now things have changed and this year, it’s open again for students to enjoy!
