With each race, cross country showcases the power of teamwork and the beauty of competition across diverse terrains. This is what Mr. Smith and his cross country team is doing differently this year to be even better than last year.
Coach Smith said that “The team…is doing a really good job of pacing themselves this year.” The coach stated that former teachers retired and that is why he decided to start coaching. He got into cross country because it was a sport that needed coaches and he enjoys running. Coach said that if he had to coach any other sport instead cross country it would be Track and Field. He coaches that in the summer and spring time. He also coaches flag football. Coach states that he likes cross country because his kids run cross country.
Jake Lay states that ”He started running to get faster and stronger.” Lay said that he stays motivated by forcing himself to run even harder. Lay exclaims that he is going to push even harder this year than last year because he feels even more competitive than last time he played.
Neven Owen states that his goal this year for cross country is to get an 11 minute mile and a half time. Another goal Owen has for this year is to qualify for finals.
In summary, cross country is about more than just running; it’s about pushing through tough times and making friends. The challenges we face teach us important lessons, and the bonds we form with teammates make it all worthwhile. In the end, it’s the shared experiences and personal growth that matter most. Whether we win or lose, the journey together is what we’ll always remember.
