On August 2, Imagine Dragons performed at the Toyota Amphitheatre in Wheatland, California. I thought the show was excellent. I paid $40 per ticket for grass seats and dirt parking. Though the show was good, the wait and traffic were not. From my house to Wheatland on a typical day, would approximately be a 32 minute drive. When we took the backroads, it was a nightmare. The 32-minute drive turned into 2 hours and 36 minutes. When we finally arrived, we had to wait in a 20-minute line to go through security.
Imagine Dragons put on around a 1 hour and 30 minute show. The band had interactive things, such as big beach balls people could pass around. Unfortunately, the balls did not make it to the lawn seats; instead, the balls mostly stayed in the VIP section.
The band itself sounded great. The lead singer had more of a raspy voice in person than on record, yet there was no big distinction between the record and the concert. The band managed to have no mistakes in vocals or keys, which made the show way better.
The venue was very packed and was possibly overbooked. The grass seats were so cramped you could hardly put your hands up to snap a picture. Many people had to stand outside of the seats by the bathrooms and food stands. Along with the traffic and rushing of people, the concert did not start until almost an hour after the original time because the band did not want people to miss the show or block people’s view from seeing the show.
Although the venue was a bit of a mess, Imagine Dragons still put on an excellent show, and I would recommend it to see them, but be careful which venue you choose!
