Project 2025 is a very serious topic. It has the potential to change almost every aspect of American life if everything goes according to plan. It’s important to understand what could happen over time. Recently, Donald Trump signed an executive order banning biological males from competing in women’s sports. Many people disagree with this decision, as they believe it is unfair. In fact, one might question whether there should even be sports that are specifically designated for women or men. We believe that sports should be open to everyone, regardless of gender or identity. Trump also banned transgender individuals from joining pre-Olympic teams, which many consider wrong. Everyone should have the opportunity to qualify for the Olympics, and this ban limits those opportunities for transgender athletes.
Trump also prohibited transgender women from competing in women’s sports and plans to charge transgender boys and men with a federal crime for “invading” girls’ locker rooms. This policy is completely unjust. Transgender boys and men should have the right to use the appropriate locker rooms without facing severe consequences.
Project 2025 doesn’t just affect the LGBTQ+ community—it impacts other groups as well. The project opposes abortion and reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights, immigrant rights, racial equality and justice, and free speech, among others. There’s a long list of issues that Project 2025 addresses. For example, it seeks to end no-fault divorce, meaning that if a couple wants to divorce, one person must take the blame for the breakdown of the marriage.
That’s not all. Project 2025 proposes raising taxes on the working class, cutting Social Security and Medicare, banning Muslims from entering the country (a stance inferred from some of Trump’s speeches), ending birthright citizenship, repealing the Affordable Care Act, raising the retirement age, increasing prescription drug prices, ending marriage equality, banning African American and gender studies in all educational levels, dismantling climate protections, expanding Arctic drilling, banning contraceptives, eliminating free and discounted lunch programs, using the military to break up domestic protests, and more.
The project also calls for eliminating protections for transgender rights and gender-affirming care. It proposes reviewing federal agency rules and programs for any mention of gender identity or transgender protections and eliminating them. Trump has repeatedly promised to push these changes during his campaign, signaling that his administration will follow some conservatives’ view that there are only two valid genders, classify gender-affirming care for children as abuse, and keep transgender students off sports teams.
Many believe that Project 2025 should be stopped, but others may disagree. It’s crucial to take action and find solutions to address the gaps in these policies.
