After months of negotiations, the WPTA teachers’ union and WPUSD school district reached a tentative agreement on salary increases last Tuesday night. The discussions have been ongoing, with teachers advocating for more competitive pay and conditions as they currently rank eighth out of eight compared to surrounding districts.
The union initially proposed a 9.99% salary increase, while the district countered with a 1.07% raise. The details of the tentative agreement have not yet been publicly disclosed, but the deal marks a significant step in resolving the dispute.
The agreement will now go through the formal approval process, with both parties expected to review and vote on the terms. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
We will provide an update once this tentative agreement is voted on by WPTA members. Stay tuned!
