The 6th grade AVID class was given an important and fun opportunity: a field trip to Sierra College. The trip allowed students to tour the college campus, walk around where college students attend classes, and get a feel for what college life is really like. It was a great way for students to imagine what their future college experience might look like.
For many students, this was their first time visiting a college campus. They could actually picture themselves going to the same college, experiencing the same classes, and learning from college professors. In many ways, the trip was a way to inspire students to work hard and dream big about their future education.
Not only was the trip educational, but it was also a lot of fun. Students got to explore the campus, learn about how colleges operate, and bond with their classmates outside of the normal classroom environment. It was a refreshing break from their usual schoolwork and a chance to enjoy learning in a new and exciting way.
The trip gave students the opportunity to experience something new at a young age—something many people don’t get to do until much later. It was a chance to learn in a hands-on way, explore a real college, and have fun at the same time. The AVID students were lucky to experience what college life is like while still in middle school.
Overall, the AVID field trip to Sierra College was a smart and exciting way to learn. It gave students a real chance to experience a college firsthand and encouraged them to keep working hard toward their goals. It was a trip full of learning, excitement, and inspiration. Most importantly, it helped show young learners that college isn’t just something far away in the future—it’s something they can achieve, and have fun doing it.
