It’s clear that Mrs. Mullen and the Leadership students care deeply about creating memorable and enjoyable experiences for everyone. Feedback from students has helped them transform school dances into exciting events that students genuinely look forward to, making them a highlight of the school year.
Over the years, the dances have improved significantly. Mrs. Mullen shared that one important thing she has learned is “what DJ to hire, what types of food to sell, and that students have said having more activities to do than just dancing would be nice.” Now, those ideas are part of every dance, and it’s made a big difference in how much fun students have.
Because of this feedback and effort, our dances now include photo booths where students can take fun pictures with friends, and they even allow kids to request songs from the DJ. This makes the experience more personalized and exciting for everyone who attends.
Even though the dances are already very popular and well-attended, there’s always room for improvement. Leadership students are constantly thinking of creative ways to build on past events. Mrs. Mullen explained, “A successful dance looks like a large majority of students attend, and then we get feedback to see if the dance went well and try to make the next one even better.” This ongoing process helps ensure each new dance is more fun and better organized.
Feedback also helps Mrs. Mullen and the Leadership team know what worked well and what didn’t. Mrs. Mullen cares a lot about whether students enjoy the dances, and she uses their suggestions to make sure every dance is fun for everyone.
To help things run smoothly, Leadership has an activity committee. Mrs. Mullen noted, “The activities committee comes together and thinks of a couple of themes they can do for the dances. Then the leadership students vote on what they think is the best one.” This process gives students a voice in shaping the look and feel of each dance.
Having student input on themes and activities is very important. It ensures the dances are fun, engaging, and something students will always remember.
