This week, the Panther family will be taking a trip to Zebra Town. The 8th graders will have the chance to experience what high school life will be like in the upcoming year. This is an exciting opportunity for them, as they will be stepping into a new environment with new people. The 8th graders will either be attending the “Shadow a Zebra” event on Thursday, January 9th, or Friday, January 10th.
“Shadow a Zebra” is an event where juniors and seniors will show the 8th graders around the campus and classrooms, providing insights into what each class is about. Students will also learn about the sports and electives offered at the high school, helping them get an idea of what classes they might want to take at LHS.
The goal of this experience is to give the 8th graders a positive first impression of LHS, its staff, and its students. The high school wants to ensure that all students succeed academically and earn the credits needed to graduate. They also emphasize the importance of taking high school seriously from the start—especially in freshman year. Failing classes could lead to recommendations for summer school or even alternative programs like Phoenix, which most students would likely prefer to avoid during their summer break.
LHS also offers a special program for juniors and seniors that helps them plan for their future after high school. The teachers and staff are dedicated to guiding students toward their future careers and helping them pursue their goals.
Overall, it looks like all the students are excited about the opportunities LHS will provide for them!
