As we head into the new semester, I want to introduce you all to one of our 8th-grade teachers. Ms. Sunding joined us at the start of the school year as a science teacher, and she has an inspiring story about her previous school and the reasons she decided to make the move to Glen Edwards Middle School.
I had the chance to ask Ms. Sunding some questions about her decision to switch schools and the importance of that move:
“For 8 years, I taught at Colfax Elementary School, where I taught 7th and 8th grade math and science. This is also my 14th year of teaching.”
“I decided to come to GEMS in hopes of growing as a teacher. After being at the same school for 8 years, I wanted the opportunity to work with new teachers and challenge myself to learn new things. Sometimes change is really good—it’s how we learn and grow as human beings.”
“I LOVE GEMS so far. All the students and staff have been so welcoming and supportive. I am really glad I’m here.”
“Being a teacher is like riding a wild roller coaster. You never know what’s in store for you, but it’s always fun at the end of the ride!”
“Being in a new environment is scary, but in order to learn and grow, you need to step out of your comfort zone and try new things.”
“I definitely miss my old school, but so far, I am very happy here and glad I took the leap to GEMS. The opportunities that students at GEMS have are amazing.”
“I need a bit of quiet time in the morning to prepare for the day. I like to enjoy a cup of coffee in silence to get ready for lesson planning.”
“I truly love my students! I think 8th graders are the coolest kids around. They continually make me laugh and never cease to amaze me. I enjoy getting to know my students and try to support them in everything they do.”
To sum it up, we can confidently say that Ms. Sunding is genuinely excited to be part of the Glen Edwards community. She’s embracing all the new opportunities it offers, particularly the chance to grow professionally. She appreciates the challenges and fresh experiences that come with working at a new school. The supportive and dynamic environment, along with her new colleagues, has contributed to her overall sense of fulfillment. Ms. Sunding is eager to continue contributing to the school’s success while expanding her own skills in this invigorating new setting.
