Elton John and Brandi Carlile have recently released a new song called Who Believes in Angels?, and I’ll be reviewing it here. The song begins with Elton John playing a simple note on his piano. A few seconds in, Brandi Carlile starts singing a sweet melody. After the first verse, John joins in with Carlile. I really love this idea. John’s voice is deeper and gruffer than Carlile’s, but he still sounds great.
In the pre-chorus, Carlile and John start singing a bit louder, with guitar strumming in the background. The chorus then picks up the pace, making the song feel a bit more upbeat. So far, I really enjoy the music in the background—it’s both happy and relaxing. After a brief moment, the music dies down again, returning to John’s piano and the guitar strumming softly in the background.
My least favorite part comes near the end of the song, where there’s a buzzing noise that gets louder. Thankfully, Elton John’s piano playing helps balance things out and keeps me from going crazy. After a few tense seconds, the sound fades away, and the song reaches its conclusion. Overall, I give the song four out of five stars and definitely recommend it.
Elton John will also be releasing a new album, Who Believes in Angels?, on April 4th. It’s a long wait, but I’ll likely do a review on that album as well. It’s been a while since Elton John has released new music, put out an album, or been on tour. I think Elton John should collaborate more with Brandi Carlile and make more music together.
