Our middle school girls’ basketball season is a journey of teamwork, growth, and fun. From the first practice to the final game, the players improve their skills, face challenges, and create lasting memories together.
We have a new 7th grade team, and the 7th graders from last year are now playing 8th grade ball. Both teams are doing great, and the whole school is cheering them on and supporting them. I’m really excited to see how this season goes!
First, I interviewed Emma Magnisoun, an 8th grader. She said, “My goal for this season is to make better shots and score more baskets. I play point guard, and our team has a different tactic, so I’m the second point guard. I work really well with Krissy Lowe, who’s also a point guard. I’ve been playing this position for most of my time. I started playing basketball after my parents talked about it—they both played, as well as my siblings, and I ended up loving the sport. I’m so excited to see how this season goes.”
Next, I interviewed the 7th grade team and got Isabel Crawford’s response. She said, “I want to improve my skills and learn more tricks to do around people. I play point guard and have been playing for 5 out of 7 years. I was inspired to play by my friends and family; I even got to play with some friends when I first started.”
I also had the chance to interview the 8th grade girls’ basketball coach, Ken Lowe. His response was: “I’ve always had a passion for basketball, and my coaching journey began when my oldest daughter started playing. Over the past 10 years, I’ve been involved in the sport, both as a coach and as someone who played throughout middle school and during my freshman year of high school. Our team is very athletic and extremely competitive, which has made coaching them even more rewarding.”
Our middle school girls’ basketball season is shaping up to be an incredible one, filled with teamwork, growth, and plenty of fun moments. From the 7th graders eager to make their mark to the 8th graders bringing their experience and leadership, both teams are showing great promise. The whole school is rallying behind them, excited to support the athletes every step of the way.
