Gem rally are thrilling events filled with excitement, school spirit, and fun games! From friendly competitions to team challenges, students come together to cheer, play, and make unforgettable memories. It’s a perfect way to bond, show enthusiasm, and enjoy a day of laughter and excitement! Lets see what is behind the scenes of the rally’s and see what preparation they have to do before.
Lets see what Mr. Ogaz has to offer for what goes on behind the sense of the rally’s. 1. What goes into planning a school rally from start to finish? “The students do most of the planning, during the event we start with information we need to share. Things like: spirit days, key events, dance info. Then the students begin to plan out the games they want to include. Those games get approved by Mrs. Mullen or myself. If they aren’t, they go back to researching them, and so on.” 2. How far in advance do you start preparing for a rally? “Planning a rally generally starts a month out in advance. This gives the students enough time to brainstorm ideas and get all the errors out of the way.” 3. What are the biggest challenges in organizing a rally? “The kids would have a better insight into it, but I think it’s coming up with the ideas to engage the student body. We want to get you all excited and engaged but also we have to follow school rules and not get y’all too excited that we get out of hand.” 4. How do you decide on the theme and activities for each rally? “All the themes and activities are student generated. They come up with it all. It’s up to Mrs. Mullen and I take a look at things and make sure they’re safe, inclusive, and meet GEMS standards.” 5. What role does the student leadership or ASB play in the planning process? “They play a majority of the role in planning. Mrs. Mullen and I obviously set some guidelines; however, the students do a lot of work. I will say, the amount of effort, planning, and creativity our students have is amazing to see.”
We interviewed Aidin, who is in leadership. Let’s see what he says. What’s your role in organizing the school Rally’s? “My role is to give ideas for the games.” What’s the process for coming up with the rally theme and activities.” we plan the Rally’s by if there is a theme for a dance we use it.” What’s your favorite part of the setup process?” Being able to set up games during the Rally’s.”
