There are many fun places to go for a school field trip, but one of the best options is Disneyland. It’s a place filled with characters from everyone’s childhood, which makes it easy for students to connect with the experience. A trip to Disneyland also encourages teamwork and time management, as students must work together to plan their day, navigate the park, and fit in as many rides as possible. Most importantly, it gives students a chance to create lasting memories with their friends and enjoy an experience they might not otherwise get to have.
Now let’s take a closer look at the field trip that actually happened!
Disneyland is packed with exciting rides and attractions. Some students, like Isabella Martinez, especially love Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, which many say is the best ride in the park. Other popular rides in Star Wars Land include Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Tours. Unfortunately, Isabella didn’t get the chance to try any new rides on this trip, which was disappointing. Part of the fun of Disneyland is experiencing something new and thrilling, and not being able to do that can make the day feel a little less magical.
One ride she really wanted to go on but didn’t get to was the Incredicoaster. It looked amazing and exciting, but sadly, students weren’t allowed to choose every ride they wanted to go on. Sometimes, field trip schedules or group rules can limit which attractions you can experience.
Some of Isabella’s top-rated rides were the Star Wars attractions, Incredicoaster, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad—all big favorites among visitors. These thrilling rides make you feel like you’re actually part of the action. They’re fast, immersive, and depending on your age, even a little scary! But for some people, the motion can cause a bit of nausea, especially if you’re not used to fast rides.
Isabella also tried some new food during her trip. One of the highlights was a Dole Whip topped with chamoy and Tajín—a sweet, spicy, and tangy treat that was surprisingly delicious, even though, like most theme park food, it was pretty expensive. She also bought some souvenirs, including a Spider-Man backpack and matching Spider-Man ears. Although the souvenirs were pricey, she felt they were worth it.
Disneyland isn’t just about rides—it’s also known for its tasty treats. When asked what food she’d bring back if she could, Isabella chose the Mickey-shaped beignets. If you’ve never had one, beignets are soft, square, deep-fried pastries originally from New Orleans, usually served warm and covered in powdered sugar. They’re delicious, with or without coffee!
Although she tried to meet Mickey and Donald, Isabella wasn’t able to find them. Meeting Disney characters sounds easy, but with the size of the park and the number of visitors, it can actually be pretty tough.
She also watched two shows during the trip: The Enchanted Tiki Room and an awards ceremony. Her favorite was the awards ceremony. A cool fact from the trip—band students visited the original Disneyland Resort, the very first one ever built!
When asked what she would change about the trip, Isabella said she wished the weather had been better. Her biggest piece of advice for future visitors is simple: don’t stress about trying to go on every ride—just enjoy the experience.
With 49 rides and long wait times, it’s nearly impossible to do it all in one day. But that just gives you a reason to go back—something Isabella definitely plans to do.
