Not all big debates revolve around food—there are plenty of other hot topics out there. One of the biggest? Wired Headphones vs. Bluetooth.
Bluetooth vs. wired is a really good debate, but personally, I think Bluetooth is better than wired—and here are some reasons why. With Bluetooth, you don’t always have to have your phone with you to listen to music. For example, if you’re cleaning your room, you can set your phone down and still enjoy your playlist. Also, you don’t have to worry about tangled cords. Just pop in your earbuds and start listening—no cluttered wires in your drawer or around your room. You also avoid damaging ports or plugs.
Bluetooth comes with cool features that wired headphones don’t have, like touch controls, voice assistants, and auto-pairing. Plus, many newer devices are removing headphone jacks, pushing users toward Bluetooth. Bluetooth earbuds are also more portable—usually just a small case—while wired headphones can become a tangled mess in your pocket or bag.
That said, just because I think Bluetooth is better doesn’t mean everyone agrees. Let’s look at the other side.
Wired headphones don’t need batteries, so you never have to worry about charging them. They also avoid connection issues that Bluetooth can sometimes have. One big advantage is cost—wired headphones are usually much cheaper than Bluetooth ones. Because they’re plugged directly into your device, there’s no interference, and you get zero audio delay (unless they’re broken). Bluetooth, on the other hand, can experience delay or dropouts due to signal issues.
Wired headphones are also often more durable. Their earbuds tend to be larger and sturdier, while the smaller Bluetooth ones can be easier to break or lose.
After looking at all the pros and cons, I’m starting to change my mind—I think wired headphones might actually be better than Bluetooth. I would rate Bluetooth headphones a 6.5 out of 10, and wired headphones an 8.5 out of 10. So overall, I’d say wired is about 2 stars better than Bluetooth.
