The east coast is not just a beautiful sight to see, it is also a history treasure trove, and a heavily informational trip you might go on. At gems every year we provide an opportunity for all 8th graders to come along and explore while learning about America’s history.
Mr Noonan stated, “Not only for an 8th grader getting independence being away from home, but there’s so many different things that they get to experience I don’t think students will forget.” Being a 40 hour drive away from home can seem intimidating and often scary for students but the outcome is more than beneficial. Students who attend get a chance to be free from the everyday things they see and get to experience a trip away from home.
Coming along the journey, you will be able to learn about several new things, while standing on the ground and dirt where they occurred. Engaging with exhibits and landmarks allows students to learn in a more interactive and sensational way.
There is several years of history behind this trip originating from Mrs. Reitman. She led the trip for many years before handing it off to Mr. Noonan before she retired. Mr Noonan started chaperoning in 2010, before 2016 when he was handed the trip and has been going for 9 years.
It has been over 25 years our school has offered this trip and still lots more to come. A lot of passion and commitment goes into making this trip happen and it is a joyful experience for everyone.
