At our school, only a few water fountains are filtered, which can create a problem for students. The main fountains that are filtered and safe to drink from are located in the two story building. Clean drinking water is very important, especially since students need to stay hydrated throughout the day.
Although the two story fountains are safe, not everyone can easily access them. They are located in a specific area of campus, so if a student needs water during class or between periods, they may have to walk a long distance just to get a drink. This is not always convenient, especially when students only have a few minutes between classes.
Some students bring their own reusable water bottles, which is helpful. However, not every student remembers to bring one, and some may not have one at all. That is why school water fountains are so important. They provide equal access to drinking water for everyone. If fountains are not filtered or considered safe, students may avoid using them, which could lead to dehydration or other health concerns.
It would be beneficial for the school to invest in installing filters in more water fountains across campus. This would ensure that all students have easy access to clean and safe drinking water. Improving access to filtered water may seem like a small change, but it could make a big difference in supporting students’ health and well being.
