Feed the Beast is a football training program designed for incoming freshmen at LHS. Its main goal is to help 8th grade students get conditioned and prepared for high school football, but students in 6th and 7th grade are also welcome to participate.
The program takes place three days a week: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, with each session lasting about two hours. While it is not free, the cost is only $25 to join. There are several coaches involved, including two main coaches, Coach Manny and Carlos, who are present at every session and are dedicated to helping athletes improve.
The workouts are structured throughout the week. Tuesdays focus on conditioning, including sprints and running. Thursdays emphasize jumping and explosive movements. Sundays include more football specific drills in addition to conditioning. In the weight room, workouts alternate between upper body and lower body, switching each session to provide a balanced routine.
The program runs through the end of the school year, or until the football season begins. Even if you are unsure about playing football or have no experience, Feed the Beast is still a great way to stay active, build strength, and improve overall fitness.
Overall, it is a fun and productive way to spend time during the week. It offers a chance to get in shape, meet new people, and prepare for future sports opportunities. Feed the Beast welcomes new participants, and the coaches are always excited to help more students get involved.
