A big change is coming to the Western Placer Unified School District, with a new school planned for Lincoln around the year 2030.
WPUSD announced that a new TK–8 school called Liberty at Lincoln is being developed in Lincoln, California, with an anticipated opening between 2030 and 2031. The school is being built through a partnership with the City of Lincoln and Lewis Homes to serve the growing community and will be located southwest of Ferrari Ranch Road.
This possibility was first announced on August 30, 2025. District officials explained that the idea for another TK–8 school came from the success of Glen Edwards Middle School in past years. With a large increase in elementary school enrollment, WPUSD recognized the need for additional middle school capacity, since these students will eventually need a place to attend after fifth grade.
Liberty at Lincoln will be part of the continued expansion of the Lincoln community. As more families move into the area, the demand for new educational spaces continues to grow. The school is expected to help ease overcrowding at existing campuses while providing a long-term solution for future students.
With support from Lewis Homes and the City of Lincoln, the new TK–8 school is expected to offer a modern learning environment designed to meet the needs of both elementary and middle school students. Plans include updated classrooms, technology-rich learning spaces, and athletic facilities to support a well-rounded educational experience.
In addition to serving students, Liberty at Lincoln is expected to become an important part of the local community. A WPUSD representative shared that the school will not only benefit students but also serve as a gathering place for families and residents. The design and educational approach will reflect the values of the Lincoln community, helping create a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for students and staff.
Lincoln continues to grow rapidly, and with new housing developments come new students. Careful planning is essential to ensure future schools can support this growth. Liberty at Lincoln represents an important step toward preventing overcrowded classrooms while giving students the opportunity to explore classes and electives that match their interests and goals.
